Most yoga sessions begin with 28 minutes of sun salutation poses (a standard series of moving poses found in many styles of yoga), followed by approximately 20 minutes of standing poses, and lastly, approximately 8 minutes of sitting and lying poses (relaxation). 220 minus your age times 60% and times 90%

For example, a 30-year old would calculate his target zone using the above formula: 220-30=190. 190x.60=114 and 190x.90=171.

This individual would try to keep his heartrate between 114 (low end) and 171 (high end) beats per minute.

Chanting is the most important of the three. Giving full concentration on the Muladhara Chakra, Kundalini will be awakened quickly if the degree of concentration is intense and if the Pranayama is practised regularly.

Meditation and yoga work by training the mind to educate the body into following the mind and thus, obtaining the results you require such as, overall relaxation, well being and even exercise. Combating stress requires at times more than just exercise and that is when meditation and yoga can step in and help. Yoga is an ancient practice, which originates from India; it was introduced by holy men who practiced meditation for days together in order to train their mind and body in order to achieve a sense of well being.
